Adler & Allan’s Response to the Daily Telegraph Article on Flood Grants

Adler & Allan has been one of the UK’s leading flood, emergency and incident response companies for the last 3 decades as well as a committed member of BITC’s Business Emergency Resilience Group (BERG).

As part of our commitment to supporting the work of the Business Emergency Resilience Group, following the floods of December 2015, we placed flood specialists on the ground to help the thousands of householders and businesses affected by the flooding. We set up fixed drop in centres to help people understand the complex grant application process and educate them on the resilience and resistance measures they could implement to protect themselves against future flooding.

We have also worked closely with local surveyors and contractors to ensure a speedy and appropriate response to what was a very challenging situation for the residents. This was all done at our own expense and with no guarantee of applicants using any of our specialist flood services.

We vigorously refute any and all implications of impropriety the Daily Telegraph made in its article.

We vigorously refute the claim that Adler & Allan use substandard products and we strongly defend our use of chosen products and their efficacy. All of the products we use in commercial and residential installations are selected on technical merit and their ability to best perform the function for which they are designed. These decisions have been made on empirical evidence through our own testing in our R&D laboratory as well as through independent testing.

We do not and have never selected inferior products. We test, select and install products that offer the best resilience and resistance protection. These products have all been chosen to meet the specific needs of each property, its flood history and its owner’s ability to utilise them, as well as comply as closely as possible with DEFRA’s guidelines.

Adler & Allan staff complete our own flood training program and all of our installers and surveyors are fully trained by manufacturers of specific products where required.

As a responsible business, we are compelled to support BERG’s work with the relevant skills and experience we can bring.
