Pump it up!

Olympic park drivers can now fill up on site and contractors can have diesel and gas oil delivered directly to them after a new fuel station opened near the North Plaza, London Olympic Park.

It is estimated that the new Adler and Allan fuel station will reduce Park traffic from vehicles travelling to fill up by about 80 per cent. The station will also be able to make deliveries to contractors in a 12,000-litre tanker.

Adler and Allan Fuel Services Manager Mike Grayton said the station, which opened in January, would also help reduce traffic on local roads as drivers will be able to fill up on site.

'On-road vehicles that run on white diesel, such as 4x4s and buses, will no longer have to use local roads to re-fuel because they can just do it on site at the station,' he said.

As well as two pumps for white diesel, the station will have one for gas oil and one for ultra low sulphur gas oil, which are both used for plant vehicles. Drivers using the station will be given smart keys. Once at the station, they put the keys in a key pad and enter their driver number and the vehicles odometer reading.

'This key system gives a lot of security because contractors can state what fuel each vehicle and each driver can pick up,' Mike said.

Adler and Allan's east London offices have been based in Stratford but will be re-locating to make way for the Olympic Park Construction.
