SoakBags recognised in ‘Innovation’ category of CBRE Supply Partner Awards 2016

Adler & Allan has finished runner-up in the ‘Innovation Award’ category at the CBRE Supply Partner Awards 2016, which aims to recognise excellent performance in the areas most valued to CBRE customers.

The ‘Innovation Award’ category rewards the supply partner who has used new and innovative ways to improve performance and efficiency for CBRE.

A&A’s highly commended entry involved SoakBags, a cutting-edge alternative to traditional sandbags.  At Wembley Stadium, a water pipe leak in a plant room was threatening to close down the iconic venue.  Further fracturing was suspected and there was a risk that an internal substation could be flooded along with the player changing rooms.

The affected area was in the basement, and the logistics of delivering hundreds of heavy sandbags into London on a busy lunchtime and then physically carrying them down to stop the leak was not a time or cost effective solution.

Soakbags, however, are compact, lightweight and easily deployable. A total of 400 SoakBags were transported in a small van, delivered by two members of Adler & Allan’s flood response team.  Each person could easily carry 20 bags at one time, allowing them to be quickly and safely transported down to the affected site where they were used to build a protective wall.  All this was completed within a matter of hours, allowing for the important pipework repair to begin.

A&A is delighted that SoakBags have been recognised in a category that celebrates originality and creativity as well as performance and efficiency.
