Adler and Allan first organisation accredited by International Spill Accreditation Scheme

Published: 12 July 2019

12 July 2019, Market leading environmental risk reduction specialist Adler and Allan, is the first response organisation to be recognised by the International Spill Accreditation Scheme (ISAS) as an accredited Tier 2 Oil Spill Response Organisation (OSRO) for sheltered / enclosed waters, coastal & large estuary and shoreline clean-up.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) state that ports, harbours and oil handling facilities are required to provide contingency plans detailing the contract they hold with an OSRO as part of the Merchant Shipping (Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation Convention (OPRC)) Regulations 1998 (SI 1988 No.1056).

The accreditation demonstrates Adler and Allan’s preparedness to respond to marine spill events with multiple deployments.

The International Spill Accreditation Scheme (ISAS) is a joint venture between the UK Spill Association and ISAA. An agreement was signed on 16th October 2018 that from the 1st November 2019 OSRO’s delivering or intending to deliver Tier 2 response services to ports, harbours, marine terminals and offshore installations will be required to be in compliance with the new Standard.

An ISAS accreditor will attend an Incident Management Exercise delivered by Adler and Allan for a client port in the next few months for a final inspection of Adler and Allan’s work.

Beth Esau, Marine Contracts Manager from Adler and Allan said: “I am delighted we are the first OSRO to be recognised with this accreditation. I was really proud to hear that the accreditor was impressed with our internal systems and procedures. I would like to thank the marine team at Adler and Allan who have helped us to implement new measures.”

As part of an ongoing strategy to consolidate the business and reflect an enhanced range of services and solutions including marine, Adler and Allan has launched a new brand and logo which will be rolled out across external channels throughout the summer.

Adler and Allan delivers emergency environmental response and planning services to a number of ports and harbours in England, Wales and Scotland.
