Spill response

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) state that certain ports, harbours, and oil handling facilities are required to provide contingency plans detailing the contract they hold with an accredited Oil Spill Response Organisation (OSRO) as part of the Merchant Shipping (Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation Convention (OPRC)) Regulations 1998 (SI 1988 No.1056).

An agreement was signed on 16th October 2018 that from the 1st November 2019 OSRO’s delivering or intending to deliver Tier 2 response services to ports, harbours, marine terminals and offshore installations will be required to be in compliance with the new MCA’s National Standard for Marine Tier 2 Oil Spill Response Organisations for sheltered / enclosed waters, coastal & large estuary and shoreline clean-up.

Decarbonisation

Transport produced 27% of the UK’s total emissions in 2019, of which 8% (14 MtCO2e) came from shipping. Fuelled by the government’s transport decarbonisation plan, the industry is committed to reaching Net-Zero by 2050.

Decarbonisation of long-distance shipping will likely require low-emissions liquid fuels from bio or synthetic sources. As domestic shipping offers a lower GHG emission freight option, logistics operators are shifting modes to water.

Salvage and wreck removal

Removing a wreck or sunken vessel requires consideration be given to limiting environmental impacts and how pollution will be managed if this does occur. Salvage operations including wreck removal aren’t straightforward exercises and require experienced partners to ensure you don’t cause a bigger issue.

Ageing infrastructure

Aging critical infrastructure such as fuel tanks and pipelines hold greater risk of leaks and contamination. With the energy transition, many operators are trying to optimise the full lifespan of their ageing assets until such time as they switch to alternative energy sources. Our inspection and reporting services cover tanks used for fuel, water, and chemicals, and are compliant with EEMUA 159, API 653, OFTEC Guidelines and NDT Inspection Standards.

Decommissioning

Our experts project manage your unique decommission, including wreck removal, from planning and preparation to demolition and onward development, with fast turnaround, while reducing environmental risk.

Fuel management

Ensure operational continuity by analysing, uplifting, transferring, and polishing fuel as well as emergency fuel delivery so that you can minimise downtime, reduce risk to the environment and ensure compliance. Remote monitoring telemetry systems as well as security measures such as CCTV will help you manage the security of your high value fuel assets.

Hazardous waste

If you generate hazardous waste, we can process it compliantly by identifying, collecting, and analysing it in our dedicated lab. By treating and disposing of any hazardous bulk liquid or packaged waste, you can be confident your waste will be removed quickly and processed compliantly.
