BERG Communications

Mark Calvert has been working closely with the Business Emergency Recovery Group (BERG) on their communications to the business community.

A copy of the latest leaflet from BERG, which will be distributed to UK’s SME’s in our industry sector, is attached and features a quote from Mark: “Adler and Allan assists businesses in preparing for and mitigating against environmental disasters. BERG is an active network of leading businesses and organisations across the UK with the aim to help businesses and communities prepare for, respond to and recover from an emergency.

Adler & Allan is a member of the Business Emergency Recovery Group (BERG), an initiative of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, and a part of Business in the Community (BITC) and Scottish Business in the Community (SBC), designed to help businesses and communities across the UK to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies such as flooding, cyber-attacks and civil unrest.

What are BERG’s goals?

BERG intends to help small to medium-sized (SME) businesses to plan for the risks they may face and recover more quickly should disaster strike, by calling upon the resources of larger organisations. Members of BERG will assist businesses and communities affected by crises by matching their resources with identified local needs.

What does it involve?

Using its extensive network among UK business, and working through the emergency services, local authorities, local resilience forums, regional resilience partnerships and the voluntary sector, BERG delivers: • an online signposting facility to enable businesses to become more resilient to crisis •  on-the-ground practical help for businesses during a crisis •  advice and assistance on recovering from the effects of a crisis

The BERG strategy is determined by a dedicated Leadership Team, comprising board members and senior directors from major organisations which includes Adler & Allan.

In-kind, support is provided by UK and Scottish Government agencies, including the Cabinet Office (Civil Contingencies Secretariat), Met Office and the Environment Agency, as well as voluntary sector organisations such as the British Red Cross. The Prince’s Ambassadors network provides additional help to BERG at a regional level.
