Storage tank cleaning and testing for a warehousing and logistics business
Published: 16 November 2020
The challenge
This large warehousing / logistics business has a number of distribution centres nationwide with large assets that require maintenance.
In 2018 they experienced a problem with water in one of its fuel tanks that led to 25 customer vehicles breaking down. They called Adler and Allan to investigate.
We visited the site to clean the tank and polish the fuel and gave the site a clean bill of health.
Following this incident the client tasked us to suggest a solution to stop this situation happening again. We proposed a planned regime of cleaning and testing and are now contracted to manage their entire fuel infrastructure.
Our response
We provide a regular program of service and maintenance of the interceptors and drainage across all sites. Using our fleet of vacuum tankers, jetting tankers and vehicles, as well as CCTV we routinely inspect, and change the filter on all interceptors.
As well as this routine maintenance we also provide additional ad hoc environmental work for their over ground fuel storage including:
- Fuel sampling and tank testing
- Generic pipework maintenance
- Annual OFTEC oil storage audits
We also use our new AdlerView™, a non-man entry, ATEX Zone 1 device for remote tank cleaning and visual inspections of their fuel tanks including vehicle fuel storage and generator tanks, as well as gas oil tanks for sprinklers and boilers.
We have also recently completed the installation of a new fuel tank at one of their distribution centres, moving their underground fuel storage tanks above ground to reduce the risk of fuel contamination.
The outcome
Our program of ad hoc and routine maintenance ensures their assets remain clean, operational and compliant.
Partnering with Adler and Allan means that this client meets its annual guidance requirement. When we leave site all moving and mechanical parts are working, and all drainage is running clean and free.
The Adler and Allan difference
We provide a one stop shop for this client to access all their fuel infrastructure maintenance services from one trusted partner. The depth and breadth of our equipment and experience sets us apart from other environmental companies.
We have 22 locations nationwide with tanker and jetting facilities and three waste depots. Our personnel are trained and hold the correct jetting certificate. We can react quickly to spillages and interceptor issues.
All our clients are also provided with one point of contact in our contracts team who manage all their routine and ad hoc requests which means we can coordinate an immediate and joined up response from any division or depot.
