Chemical hazard awareness training
Anyone using or handling hazardous goods should be suitably trained to be aware of the potential risks involved and how to recognise them. Recent changes to hazard label legislation (CLP) means that a whole new suite of warning labels are filtering through into the marketplace.
Staff should be aware of what the new images mean, and our course will give them the knowledge. We will also give them an understanding of storage, safe handing, PPE, product segregation and spill response – practical spill response can also be included, if required.

CLP training
European Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures came into force on 20 January 2009 in all European Union (EU) Member States, including the UK. It is known by its abbreviated form, 'the CLP Regulation' or just plain 'CLP'.
The EU CLP Regulation adopts the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of the classification and labelling of chemicals (GHS) across all EU countries, including the UK, when the UK was an EU Member State.
As GHS is a voluntary agreement rather than a law, it must be adopted through a suitable national or regional legal mechanism to ensure it becomes legally binding.
The EU CLP Regulation as amended, is retained in GB law. These arrangements mean that Great Britain continues to adopt GHS, independently of the European Union.
In order for GB CLP to operate fully and effectively in Great Britain, the EU CLP Regulation has been amended. This means there are changes to the requirements or allowances in existing processes and procedures.
CLP incorporates REACH therefore it will be the classification and labelling protocol under REACH.

Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) training
The Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor Directive requires all organisations involved in the transportation of dangerous goods to appoint a qualified DGSA.
Course content
The training covers the syllabus issued by the SQA. The delegates are prepared for the examination to gain the vocational certificate.
There are three areas specified by the examination syllabus:
- The core module which is compulsory for all delegates. This includes classification and identification of containment systems, labelling and placarding documentation, compliance, environmental protection, legal framework, and transport units.
- One mode paper. This course will fully cover all aspects related to the transportation of dangerous goods by road.
- One class paper is required.
This program covers “the all classes” module under the syllabus.
