Asset maintenance
Audit, monitoring, PPM & response
The water industry has set itself a target to achieve Net-Zero by 2030. Combined with an ageing infrastructure known to exacerbate pollution events, and the knock-on impact on the use of Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO’s) being catapulted into the public eye, water companies are facing an uphill battle right now.
We know that water companies are under ever increasing scrutiny from customers, regulators, and journalists. It is also true that your stakeholders and customers are expecting action, so it is vital to start implementing and testing solutions and be seen to address the challenge. We understand that infrastructure changes require significant time and investment: so you need an environmental partner who can help you develop innovative solutions tailored to your individual challenges as part of a strategy to tackle a range of problems.
Take a look at our range of services in our interactive graphic below supporting you from catchment right the way through the water and wastewater treatment processes to final discharge, helping you remain environmentally compliant throughout.
Despite programmes of continual infrastructure improvement, legacy issues mean that burst pipes, leaks and wrongly connected pipework do occur. This can lead to sewage and other hazardous materials making their way into surrounding land or waterways. In fact, EA records revealed there were 2,204 ‘pollution events’ in 2019 – the highest number since 2014.
We are already working with several operators providing environmental risk audits, planned preventative maintenance and monitoring, and emergency response.
All site operators have to use best available techniques to prevent or minimise the impact of pollution. By developing an asset risk matrix, we work with you to strategically plan remediation work on a priority basis. Our risk audits take the form of:
Environmental monitoring reveals the true impact of your operations on surrounding water sources and wildlife.
Our trained ecologists locate and quantify potential contaminants within your network and beyond, helping you shape appropriate response plans, avoid penalties, and achieve ODI targets and ISO accreditations.
Environmental risk assessments
Water quality monitoring
Environmental impact assessment surveys
Our cost effective planned preventative maintenance services will help you reduce the number of pollution incidents, and ease the pressure on your already stretched budgets. A planned cost is always lower than a reactive one.
We can support your site with
In a pollution event we can quickly assess the true category of incident, coordinate the wider response, and document all preventative and reactive measures taken to reduce the financial and environmental impact of the incident.
Our nationwide response team can mobilise in under two hours to respond to your emergency 24/7-365.
We can respond to any type of spill over ground, underground, marine, fresh and ground water, from an unplanned sewage release to a fuel tank or hazardous materials leak.

Oxygen levels can be depleted in waterbodies by events such as pollutions or algal blooms.
Depleted oxygen levels can lead to damage to the aquatic life including fish deaths, this in turn leads to regulatory enforcement action, financial penalties and reputational damage.
There are two principal methods of aeration that can be employed to boost oxygen levels in a waterbody, chemical aeration and mechanical aeration. Our water quality experts will determine the most appropriate aeration solution through consultation with our client and key stakeholders including the regulator.
Mechanical aeration solutions may include deployment of venturi, splash and compressor based bubble solutions. Chemical aeration solutions will include regulated dosing of the waterbody with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
We are already working with a number of UK water companies on a variety of projects so we know your challenges and we understand your infrastructure. Additionally, we have the following expertise:
All of our relevant staff are fully trained to Water Industry standard including the following:
