Getting to know Katy Greaves, Business Support Administrator at Adler & Allan

Meet the people behind our success as we unveil the stories, passions, and expertise of our dedicated team. Discover how their experience enables us to become a trusted environmental services partner for clients across the UK. This time let's get to know Katy Greaves, Business Support Administrator at Adler & Allan.

Katy became a vital part of the electrical services team in Droitwich in January 2024. When she's not coordinating training for our engineers or keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes, she’s relaxing in her garden pub and enjoying time with her family, her loyal dog, and her soldier husband.

What was your background before joining Adler & Allan?

I've always been an administrator but in different sectors. My longest role to date was at Kidderminster College, where I worked in the learner services data team for 15 years. I predominantly looked after the apprenticeship data, uploading this into the government system and helping with general enrolments for the college as well as checking that we were claiming the correct funding for learners.

I think this experience, along with my training and qualification knowledge, helped me get the role at Adler & Allan.

What does your role involve?

I’m the Business Support Administrator for the electrical services team in Droitwich. I support the defence, enquiries, and operations teams with setting up jobs, and I complete the invoicing for one part of our contract with Tesco. I also help to look after training to make sure our engineers are up to date with their qualifications and have all the relevant cards to get on site.

What changes or challenges do you see happening within your area or the broader industry?

The growth of the team and the sector. I have seen the team grow and change just in the time I have been here. The work in defence and engineering projects seems to be getting bigger and more intense.

We’re growing rapidly, which is a wonderful challenge; but with that, I have to ensure everything is in place to keep up with the busy workload of the team.

What are you looking forward to in the next 12 months in your role?

I like coming to work because I get on well with everybody. The team is friendly and approachable, so I never get up in the morning and think, “oh, I've got to go to work”. Even if I feel a bit blue, I know that I’ll be laughing and smiling with the team within minutes of being in the office!

What excites you about coming into work?

I enjoy everything that I do. I was brought in predominantly to help catch up with invoicing, which I did quite rapidly (and this was very well received).

I like working with the engineers, and although they prefer working on site, I feel I have really gained their trust and our relationships are growing day by day. There’s no hierarchy, so everybody is treated the same – whether you’re a director, engineer, or administrator.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

My husband is in the army, so he's not at home most of the time. When he is, we just love spending time at home with our miniature Pinscher, Ruby. We have a little bar in the garden for hosting barbecues and family events.

I am one of four daughters, so I'm very family-oriented and spend lots of time with my mum, dad, and sisters (who all live very close).

I’m also a huge Formula 1 fan. We love watching the McLaren team in our bar at home – papaya orange is my colour and I’m well known for it in the office.

I really do like to work hard and laugh hard!
