What was your background before joining Adler & Allan?

I spent around 15 years working in construction, moved over to demolition in my early 30s, and worked alongside Adler & Allan on the demolition of a building in Weston-super-Mare.

I was immediately struck by how professional and organised the team were, and liked the company’s overall mission of creating and looking after a better environmental outcome.

I started here in September 2023, mostly working on the incident at Luton airport. I have enjoyed learning the processes and some of the innovative solutions, such as the ion exchange system, as well as the work that goes into large-scale response work and being part part of a close-knit team - the camaraderie is great.

The breadth of offerings that Adler & Allan can provide is most impressive, really being able to provide that turnkey solution to our clients.

What is the biggest change you've seen in the industry?

I would say the regulatory environment. I could see this within the demolition world, even more so when I connected with Adler & Allan on the demolition project I mentioned earlier. The environmental considerations were not something I had been exposed to before, and to then understand that this was all about being able to demonstrate the associated environmental risks had been mitigated.

What is your biggest achievement to date?

My family.

What excites you about coming to work?

I like the fact that what we do on a day-to-day basis has a positive effect on the environment and positive actions are put in place as a result.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Spending quality time with my family and fishing on the chalk streams around Salisbury.

What’s next for Oliver in 2024?

To gain as much experience as possible by working in all fields with Adler & Allan, and use this experience to hopefully progress my career within the company.
