Emergencies, such as flooding, polluting spills, or running out of back-up fuel are problems utility providers must, where possible, avoid. If disaster does strike, a quick and appropriate response is essential. With the costs high; in terms of downtime, asset failure, environmental risk and reputation damage; ignoring potential emergencies is not a risk worth taking.
We’ll be showcasing our emergency response services at Utility Week Live at Birmingham NEC from the 21st – 23rd April. During the show, the Adler and Allan team is hosting a series of free advisory surgeries on stand D16, covering emergency response as well as flood mitigation, protective coatings and linings and pollution protection for water utilities. Prepare for emergencies
In the first instance, preparing for emergencies will help minimise any negative effect. For polluting spills, the correct spill kits should be onsite. As many utilities providers use oil as a back-up fuel in substations, spill kits specifically for this substance should be available, with designated members of staff versed in the correct procedure.
Flooding can be mitigated against prior to water’s rising – a Flood Risk Assessment will ascertain whether your site is at risk in the first place, providing tailored recommendations, such as flood defences.
In the event of an emergency a quick response is essential. Our team of emergency responders; for flooding, spills, low fuel reserves and other disasters; are available nationwide, delivering 24/7 emergency response and post incident remediation throughout the UK.
Adler and Allan’s flood response teams and associated equipment; such as flood barriers, pumps and temporary storage tanks; can be onsite within a few hours, and, as the leading spill response provider in the UK, Adler and Allan is able to quickly manage any threat to assets or the environment.
Following a flood and/or spill, important steps must be taken to assure the health and safety of individuals involved and protection of key assets. We have highly trained teams, specialist cleaning, sanitising and drying equipment, and can provide remediation of ground and water courses.
