Investing in the heart health of our team
Published: 6 September 2023
6 September 2023. We have installed Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in 20 of our key depots and offices across the UK.

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anybody, regardless of age, gender, or background. Using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in the minutes following an arrest can increase the chances of survival from around 5% to 75%.
Any employee can use the device in an emergency, and the AED at the head office in Harrogate is located outside, meaning any member of the public can use it. The emergency services will direct the caller to the device if it is the closest one to them. The HeartSine device is intelligent and will give the user feedback on compressions, with visual and voice prompts to guide them through the entire process when used in conjunction with CPR.
“Keeping our staff safe is of the utmost importance to us at Adler and Allan. That’s why we have invested in 20 AEDs for key depots and offices across the group.”

Henrik Pedersen, Chief Executive Officer, said: “Keeping our staff safe is of the utmost importance to us at Adler and Allan. That’s why we have invested in 20 AEDs for key depots and offices across the group. Being a responsible business and supporting our local community is also key for us, so making the Harrogate device accessible to everyone was a logical decision.”
According to the British Heart Foundation, in the UK there is a hospital admission every five minutes due to heart attack. And there are around 7.6 million people currently living with heart and circulatory diseases in the UK.
The combination of a fast response, CPR, and an automated external defibrillator (AEDs) can significantly increase the survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest.
