Two Adler & Allan Group colleagues shortlisted at the 2026 British Forces in Business Awards

Published: 2 June 2026

We are proud to announce that two colleagues from across the Group have been shortlisted at the 2026 British Forces in Business Awards, the world's largest celebration of veteran talent and the impact of the Armed Forces community in civilian careers.

This year's awards, taking place on 25 June 2026 at London's Grosvenor House, recognise the achievements of veterans and reservists who are shaping high-performing teams, strengthening UK industry, and acting as visible role models for service leavers. With more than 15,000 people transitioning out of the armed forces each year, the awards play a vital role in showcasing the value that military gained skills bring to business.

Recognising excellence across the Adler & Allan Group

Two colleagues from Group companies Aqua Consultants and PSS Utilities have been named finalists.

Kim Village

Service Leaver of the Year (Aqua Consultants)

Kim served in the Royal Navy from 2001 to 2008 as a logistics specialist, supporting operations including Operation Fresco, anti-terrorism activity in Germany, and deployments on HMS Montrose and HMS Cornwall. After leaving the military, she retrained in chemistry and entered the water sector as a process engineer.

Over the past 18 months, Kim has stepped into a Lead Design Engineer role on complex, multidisciplinary programmes, coordinating civils, mechanical, electrical, process and operational teams. Her structured approach, calm leadership, and ability to provide continuity through organisational change have been central to maintaining delivery confidence. Kim's work demonstrates how military-developed skills in accountability, problem solving, and team coordination translate directly into high-performing engineering environments.

Gavin Greenfield

Young Leader of the Year (PSS Utilities)

Gavin joined PSS Utilities in 2014 as a HGV driver following seven years as a royal engineer in the British Army. Over the past decade, he has progressed through a series of operational roles, building deep technical knowledge and a strong understanding of frontline service delivery.

Now Operations Director, Gavin leads and supports operational teams across the business, driving efficiency, strengthening compliance, and embedding a culture of safety and continuous improvement. His leadership style reflects the values instilled during military service: clarity, discipline, and a commitment to team success. Gavin's journey is a powerful example of long-term career progression for veterans within the Group.

A continued commitment to the armed forces community

With more than 115 veterans across the our Group, supporting ex-forces colleagues remains a core part of our culture and ESG commitments. Our military community group, led by colleagues across the organisation, provides guidance, peer support and advocacy for veterans, reservists and adult cadet volunteers.

The recognition of Kim and Gavin at this year's awards reflects the professionalism, resilience and leadership that veterans bring to our businesses every day. Their achievements highlight the strength of the armed forces community within the Group, and the value of creating pathways for service leavers to build successful civilian careers.

We look forward to celebrating with them at the awards ceremony and recognising the contribution they, and all our veterans, make to our organisation and the sectors we serve.
