About the presenters

Tim Mawby, Senior Sustainability Consultant

Adler & Allan

Tim has a degree in Business and Management from the University of Lincoln, with 7 years’ experience in energy, carbon and sustainability consultancy.

As a certified CIBSE non-domestic Low Carbon Consultant (LCC), Tim is able to assess existing buildings and develop retrofit assessments. He has successfully used this to support clients to plot routes for decarbonisation in varied property portfolios in line with relevant regulations.

Over the last 4 years, Tim has used his knowledge and experience to develop Net-Zero strategies and detailed action plans for a range of clients. One such examples is the Shaw Trust – a registered charity in across England, Wales, and Scotland. The plan covered decarbonisation actions for over 100 properties (retail stores, garden centres, factories, offices etc.) and extensive transport fleet.

Tim has produced carbon footprints and Net-Zero plans for brands such as Jo Loves (beauty products and scented candles), BF1 systems (motorsport component manufacturer), Domeble (virtual reality headsets) and Jet 2 (airline).

He has supported the delivery of ESOS energy audits during Phase 2 and Phase 3 and is a qualified ESOS Lead Assessor himself.

John Curtin, Strategic Advisor

John spent over 30 years in key roles at the Environment Agency, including as Director of Incident Management & Resilience, Executive Director of Flood and Coastal Risk Management, and Executive Director of Operations.

He has extensive experience in managing major environmental incidents – floods, droughts, pollution, and nuclear events – and is a specialist in crisis response, community resilience, and emergency communications. John played a central role in responding to events such as the 2013 coastal surge, the 2014 Somerset floods, and storms Desmond, Eva, Ciara, Dennis, and Eunice.

During national emergencies, he represented the agency at COBR, contributing to government-led crisis coordination. His work in climate resilience earned him the British Hydrological Society’s Presidential Prize and an honorary doctorate.

Today, John continues to contribute to the field as a visiting professor at the University of Southampton and vice president of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management.
