Group companies Detectronic and Oneline combine to deliver hydraulic improvements at Meole Brace Golf Course

Published: 13 February 2026

Group companies Detectronic and Oneline combined to deliver a major project for Severn Trent Water at Meole Brace Golf Course in Shrewsbury. The site contained multiple syphon systems and gravity sewers with a history of pollution and flooding. Our combined expertise ensured a solution that restored flow performance and protected the environment.

Framing the challenge

The network at Meole Brace Golf Course is complex, with syphons crossing the Rea Brook and gravity sewers running beneath sensitive ground. To minimise disruption, Oneline installed temporary roadways and fencing, enabling safe access for heavy vehicles while preserving the golf course.

Approach and implementation

Oneline led the operational delivery, providing cleansing and CCTV surveys across key locations, including Hereford Road, The Rocks, and Kemps Eye syphons. Detectronic supported with monitoring technology, installing depth sensors to capture baseline and post-cleanse data, validating the improvements achieved.

Impact and outcomes

Monitoring confirmed that cleansing significantly improved hydraulic performance. Baseline flows increased, volatility reduced, and event duration monitoring data showed healthier storm overflow behaviour.

At Kemps Eye, upstream depths dropped immediately after works, reducing flood risk and improving resilience during storm events.

This project demonstrates the strength of the Adler & Allan Group in delivering integrated solutions. By combining Oneline's operational capability with Detectronic's monitoring expertise, we provided Severn Trent Water with a robust, data-driven approach to network improvement
