Remembering through action
Published: 2 November 2026
Remembrance Day gives us the opportunity to pause and remember those who served and sacrificed. We believe that respect should also be reflected in action through our continuing commitment to veterans, reservists, service leavers, and military families.
Every year on 11 November, people across the country pause to remember those who served, sacrificed and, in many cases, gave their lives in service of our country.

For us, Remembrance Day is an important moment of reflection. It's an opportunity to remember those who came before us, recognise those who serve today, and show our appreciation for the veterans, reservists, and military families within our own communities.
But remembrance should be about more than what we say on one day of the year. It should be reflected in what we do throughout the year.
Proud to support the armed forces community
We have formally supported the armed forces community since signing the Armed Forces Covenant in 2018. The Covenant recognises the contribution made by serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and military families, and the principle that members of the armed forces community should not face disadvantage because of their service.
That commitment has continued to grow.
In 2025, we achieved the Gold award in the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme; the highest level of recognition within the scheme. It recognises employers that actively demonstrate and advocate their support for the armed forces community. This award represents a commitment to turning our support into meaningful opportunities for people.
Today, more than 150 ex-forces colleagues are part of our team, bringing diverse capabilities, leadership, and resilience to our business. Our latest internal military community update recorded 165 ex-service personnel within the Group.
Turning commitment into opportunity
The transition from military service into civilian employment can represent a significant change. We want to make sure that people leaving the armed forces can see how the skills and experience developed during their service can translate into fulfilling careers.
That's why our support extends beyond recruitment.
We work with organisations such as the Career Transition Partnership and British Forces Resettlement Services, providing military community insight days and supporting events that connect service leavers with employment opportunities. We also work with veteran-led recruitment partner Hire Cracker to help military talent access opportunities within the business.
Since January 2025, 43 people have joined Adler & Allan through our armed forces initiatives, demonstrating how that commitment is creating real employment opportunities.
Our support also continues for colleagues who remain involved with the armed forces community. Our reservist policy provides an additional ten days of annual leave for reservists, alongside three additional days for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
Internally, our military community is supported by dedicated champions, providing a network for peer support, sharing ideas, and planning activities that help strengthen our relationship with the armed forces community.
The qualities that strengthen our business
There is also a strong connection between the people we need and the skills developed through military service. Veterans and reservists bring a broad range of capabilities, as well as leadership and resilience which benefit our colleagues and customers. Our work often takes place in environments where safety, responsibility, teamwork, and the ability to respond effectively matter.
The experience that ex-forces colleagues bring therefore makes an important contribution to our organisation. That's why supporting the armed forces community is not simply a recruitment initiative. It's part of building a stronger, more diverse and capable team.
We will remember them
On Remembrance Day, our first responsibility is simply to pause to remember those who served and recognise the sacrifices made by them and their families. It's also to thank the veterans, reservists, and members of the wider armed forces community who are part of our team today.
Our Gold award is something we're rightly proud of, but perhaps its greatest significance is what it asks us to do next: continue creating opportunities, continue supporting our military community, and continue turning our gratitude into meaningful action.
